Residents interrupt Sebastopol home burglary

Deputies are seeking suspects in a home invasion that turned violent Wednesday in Sebastopol, Sonoma County Sheriff's officials reported.

Two people arrived home during the burglary and were confronted by at least two men, one armed with a handgun, Sgt. Tim Duke said.

Neighbors and passersby called 911 at about 2:40 p.m. when they heard noises of a fight, Duke said.

The suspects fled after a brief physical confrontation and were gone before deputies arrived, Duke said. Unspecified items were taken.

"There was an intended purpose when they hit the house," Duke said. "And there was evidence left behind and multiple witnesses."

The victims were treated for minor injuries, Duke said.

Anyone with information about the home invasion can call the sheriff's investigations unit at 565-2185.
