Two arrested after meth lab found in Sebastopol home

Two Sebastopol residents will appear in court Friday in connection with a methamphetamine lab found at a Sebastopol home, Sonoma County sheriff's officials reported.

Detectives began searching a Darby Road home late Wednesday after someone told authorities a resident was producing the drug, Sgt. Glenn Lawrence said.

Daniel Thomas Chappell, 48, drove up the driveway as deputies searched the property and was arrested on suspicion of making the drug, Lawrence said. Agents also arrested Sebastopol resident Mary Francis Magnelli, 48, who was in the vehicle, Lawrence said.

Deputies found a barn full of chemicals, equipment needed and a dormant lab. State drug agents removed about five gallons of chemical waste from the property.

Chappell was being held on $100,000 bail on suspicion of manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing the substance and its paraphernalia and having a firearm while under the influence of a stimulant, Lawrence said. Magnelli was being held on $10,000 bail on suspicion of possessing the drug and its paraphernalia, he said.
