Police Blotter: All in a week’s work
No one can accuse the Sebastopol Police Department of being lazy. In the week of Feb. 1 to Feb. 8 the department recorded 165 actions. Of that, 27 were dealing with parking violations, and 23 were people needing to be fingerprinted for various reasons, primarily employment, and nine were responding to false alarms. They investigated eight reports of suspicious vehicles, and seven reports of suspicious people, none of which needed more action than the officer’s presence and few wise words.
In addition:
On 2/1 at 11:26 a.m. they ticketed someone panhandling outside the S. Main St. Post Office in violation of municipal code. And l later at 4:30 p.m. someone reported losing a student card at the laundromat on Pleasant Hill Rd. AT 5:30 p.m. an injured animal was reported at Willow and High St. In such cases the officers usually take the animal to the Humane Society.

At 11:55 a.m. a grand theft report was taken on Ragle Rd. after someone stole a computer from a car. Lock those car doors, folks, the car burglar is still out there. AT 1:43 p.m. trespassers were reported on the property of the defunct Pellini Chevrolet building on Sebastopol Ave. A warning sufficed. At 7:53 p.m. someone suspected drunk driving when someone failed to turn on their headlights. Officers responded and issued a moving violation.
On 2/5 a drunk driver was busted at 1:01 a.m. by the downtown plaza. At 1:52 a.m. officers assisted when the fire department responded to a call of the odor of gas emanating from a manhole near Glassfusion Studio on Sebastopol Ave. All was safe. AT 11:29 a woman attempting to serve papers was assaulted in the lobby of Bjornstead Cellars on Fellers. Lane. At 2:08 p.m. someone called to report a petty theft outside Pacific Market because his teddy bear and cart had been taken. (Was his name Radar O’Reilly?) Someone in violation of a probation tried to get into a vehicle where he was not wanted so he went to jail instead.
On 2/6 at 4:35 p.m. someone reported petty theft when someone had taken items from a residence on Hawthorne Ct.
On 2/7 at 1:59 p.m. officers interceded when someone was making death threats at Analy High School. At 5:50 p.m. a good citizen turned in a backpack found in a parking garage on Petaluma Ave. A Jack Russell terrier was reported at large at Bodega Ave. and Jewell Ave. But it found its human or someone has a new dog by the time officers arrived.

Wake me up when it’s over.
