The music video that Murielle and some pals made
By Chris Smith/THE PRESS DEMOCRAT
Ten-year-old Sebastopol songbird Murielle Adair has a music video on YouTube that’s a lot of fun and clearly is not child’s play.
Murielle and a supporting cast of school friends received grown-up help from Wonderbread 5 musicians Tommy Rickard and Michael Philip Taylor, and from the professional sound mixer and cinematographers whom Rickard enlisted for the project.
The result has to be one of the slickest music videos ever to star a fifth grader.

Murielle’s dad, Michael, shares that his daughter started singing at age 3 and before 4 was mimicing opera, nicely. Her talent wowed family friend Thomas Dolby, the British keyboardist best known for his 1980s hits “She Blinded Me with Science” and “Hyperactive.”
Last year, Dolby introduced Murielle to Sebastopol resident Rickard, the drummer for Wonderbread 5. He was so impressed that he and Wonderbread 5 guitarist Taylor went to work creating a song for Murielle.
Rickard said his girlfriend, Jennifer Tien, pitched in with lyrics for the piece, ”My Day.” Murielle recorded it, then Rickard sent it to friend Devin Powers in Los Angeles for mixing.
Santa Rosa cinematographers Jamie and Jennifer Tuell signed on to shoot a music video.
Murielle had no trouble recruiting friends to act in the film. Check it out and you’ll see that the locations include the stage at Santa Rosa’s Last Day Saloon and a classroom and hallway at Sebastopol’s Analy High.
Nice cameo by Analy Principal Chris Heller.
Time will tell if the video’s 10-year-old star will go far. But it leaves no doubt that the kid is a delight, and she sure loves to sing.
