Sebastopol Senior Center is making a field trip to Mare Island at Vallejo on Wednesday (5/23). The bus leaves from St. Olive Church at 460 Murphy Ave. in Sebastopol. The seniors will tour the officers’ mansions and gardens at California’s oldest Navy base, then go to Benecia for lunch on their own at the waterfront before leaving for home. They get back to Sebastopol at 3 p.m. Cost is $53. Call 829-2440 to reserve your space.

Soldiers throughout history will be remembered and honored at a special performance at 8 p.m. Friday (5/25). Just in time for Memorial Day, Nell Robinson and Jim Nunally with Soldier Stories Band will perform their combination of new and traditional music at Occidental Center for the Arts. Their performance also includes letters from soldiers to their loved ones from the Revolutionary War to the present. They have just returned from a standing room only crowd at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. PBS is going to be filming their performance for television. The band hopes to raise awareness of veterans’ needs and the human cost of war. Tickets are $15, although no one will be turned away. The center is at 4008 Bohemian Hwy. in Occidental, at Harmony Village (former Harmony School). Call 874-9392 for reservations.

Gypsy jazz makes it way to Sebastopol Community Cultural Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday (5/26) when the internationally acclaimed Gonzalo Bergara Quartet performs in the Annex Main Room. The Sebastopol Center for the Arts and Whole Foods Market will host May’s Business After 5! for the  Sebastopol Chamber of Commerce members and their guests from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday (5/24). The center is at 6780 Depot St. in Sebastopol.

Get your fresh veggies! The Bodega Bay Farmers Market opens its 2021 season Sunday (5/27) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bodega Bay Community Center on Highway 1 at Bay Hill Rd. in Bodega Bay.The entire community is holding a yard sale at tyhe same time next to the farmers market.
