Pot-for-motorcycle swap goes wrong for Sebastopol man

A Sebastopol man answered an online ad for a motorcycle for sale by offering to pay with marijuana, and when he showed up for the midnight exchange with the owner, he was met by an undercover Sebastopol officer, reported police Tuesday.

Officers arrested Jason Brown, 35, in a grocery store parking lot near downtown Sebastopol at 12:05 a.m. Tuesday, said Sgt. Mike Nielsen.

Brown allegedly had responded to a Craigslist ad for a child's motorcycle, suggesting to the owner that he use marijuana and a pipe for payment.

Mountain View police were alerted to the offer and contacted Sebastopol police as the transaction was schedule to occur in the Sonoma County town, said Nielsen.

Officers arrested Brown on suspicion of possessing marijuana for sale, a felony, and delivering drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000.
