On duty – Sebastopol Police log

Sebastopol Police Department had its hands full the week of Dec. 19 – Christmas Day. The officers logged 132 items, and arrested 10 people, many of them over-merry holiday revelers. They investigated 14 reports of suspicious vehicles nine suspicious person reports, towed two cars, responded to two false alarms, and dealt with 11 parking violations. They also provided fingerprint services to seven citizens. SO here’s how the folks in blue spent the week before Christmas.

On Dec. 19 at 12:32 a.m. they took a report of threats being telephoned to a West Hills Circle resident. At 6:38 a.m. police arrested someone driving without a license on Petaluma Ave. At 10:14 a.m. they responded to complaints that a mattress company alarm on Gravenstein Hwy. S. kept going off. At 10:33 a.m. someone turned in a wallet found at Lucca Liquors. At 11:43 a.m. they broke up juveniles fighting outside of Safeway Market. At 1:25 p.m. they arrested a drunk driver at Lorraine Court. At 2:27 p.m. another wallet was found, this time at the Community Skate Park. At 6:05 p.m. they investigated a call that reported an incoherent man had been talking about a man with a gun and drugs on the bar at Junction Tavern. Unfounded. AT 6:54 p.m. a concerned citizen asked police to investigate a dog tied up outside the East West Café – all was well. AT 9 p.m. someone reported two men stealing stuff at Safeway Market but they were unable to locate the supposed thieves. At 10:27 p.m. they arrested someone for drug violations on Healdsburg Ave.

On Dec. 20 at 2:14 officers arrested someone for drug violations at the Reach Charter School. At 12:08 p.m. law offices on Healdsburg Ave. discovered someone had smashed their front window in, but as the office personnel could find nothing missing they weren’t sure if it was an attempted burglary or vandalism. At 12:10 p.m. officers quelled a verbal disturbance at the Rite Aid Pharmacy. At 6:03 p.m. officers assisted at Sebastopol Hardware after a vehicle hit a wheelchair and minor injuries resulted. At 6:29 p.m. Rino Shoe Repair on Gravenstein Hwy. S reported a pet pit bull had run off. At 7:47 p.m. someone reported finding a stray golden Labrador in the back yard – off to the Humane Society until its human could claim him. At 9:47 p.m. there was a hit and run misdemeanor at Tidal Wave Car Wash – at least the car was clean. At 10:51 p.m. police assisted medical personnel when an elderly woman fell out of bed at Apple Valley Convalescent Home.

On Dec. 21 at 1:20 a.m. a drunk driver was arrested on S. Main St. At 1:25 p.m. someone was arrested for violating drug laws on Huntley St. At 10:23 a.m. there was a hit and run misdemeanor on Bodega Ave. At 12:49 p.m. someone turned in a wallet found at Rite Aid Pharmacy. AT 1:15 p.m. someone reported a hazardous material spill which turned out to be a bucket of grease spilled next to a dumpster outside a restaurant on Gravenstein Hwy. S. At 2:19 p.m. a woman reported finding a tame love bird on Fircrest Ave. AT 4:29 p.m. police assisted Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office by informing a Washington Ave. resident someone was being released from jail. At 6:20 p.m. officers were called to round up a loose golden retriever on Gravenstein Hwy. S but were unable to locate the vagabond canine. At 8:03 p.m. they made another drug bust, this one at the Chevron Station of Sebastopol Ave. At 8:35 p.m. they tried to find a loose chocolate Labrador on S. Main St. but couldn’t (out partying with a golden retriever?).

On Dec. 22 police assisted an ambulance crew when someone on Pleasant Hill Ave. began to suffer severe complications following a surgery. AT 6:21 a.m. officers removed a carpet from Sebastopol Ave. where it was creating a traffic hazard. At 10:41 a.m. someone phoned in a report that their two dogs were lost from High St. At 5:53 p.m. officers performed a warrant arrest on Olivet Rd. At 7:30 p.m. they arrested someone for being drunk in public at Palm Drive Hospital. At 7:38 p.m. they checked out reports of shots being fired on Lynch Rd. but could not locate the shooter. AT 11:19 p.m. they quieted down a verbal altercation between a man and woman at the Burnett St. parking lot.

On Dec. 23 someone inebriated in public was arrested at 12:07 a.m. at the Sebastopol Library, and at 1:38 a.m. another person drunk in public was arrested at the Old Main Street Saloon. At 2:29 a.m. a black and white Jack Russell canine was hauled off High ST. to the Humane Society. At 8:25 a.m. yet one more holiday celebrant was arrested for public drunkenness on Petaluma Ave.

On Dec. 24 at 5:20 a.m. someone attempted to burgle R’s Auto Repair but the owner chased him off. At 8:40 a.m. officers assisted at an ambulance call when a man behind the Goodwill Store had difficulties breathing. At 10:27 a.m. officers responded when a man attempting to buy Christmas gifts went to the Rialto Theater, found the door open, went in but found no one there and the alarm went off. At 11:58 a.m. someone called to complain there were roosters on Live Oak Ave that were getting out of hand. AT 12:52 p.m. a female tabby cat was found on S. Main St. At 1:08 p.m. medical crews and officers responded when there was a female fall victim on Bodega Ave. AT 4:16 p.m. someone called to report a person who lived somewhere in the neighborhood had come walking outside a residence cursing and shouting threats and let his dog loose on the caller’s property then threw an abalone shell at the dog. Police were unable to locate the shell throwing dog owner.

On Dec. 25 someone’s Christmas did not start out well when officers assisted an ambulance crew with an ill elderly lady on McFarlane Rd. At 4:05 p.m. officers assisted another ambulance crew on Bodega Ave. when someone began to have chest pains and went unresponsive. At 8:08 p.m. cops could not locate a dog seen on the loose outside the post office (looking for the canine party?). At 10:32 p.m. a driver reported that as he went down Bodega Ave. someone hit him with a pointing laser.
