Wonderfully nutty Nutcracker coming to Sebastopol
Sebastopol is abuzz with activity as the dates of this year’s Nutcracker approaches. Costumes are being sewn, stage sets built, dances rehearsed. As always Sebastopuddlians always do things in a slightly quirky way and that includes the Nutcracker. Underwater scenes bring a dancing lobster to the stage, and a panda bear joins the cast. The cast has dancers aged five to 70, and some sterling guest stars will join them. This year Chelsea Hix, Brianna Bright, and Nathan Cottam (of the National Ballet of Serbia) are on the program. Nolan Kubota formerly of Ballet Trocadero, is returning to play the Mouse Queen.
Nutcracker opens Friday (12/21), plays Saturday (12/22) and Sunday (12/23) all at the Analy High School Auditorium. On Friday it is at 7 p.m., Saturday 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. Before each matinee there is a “Sugar Plum Party” for kids with sweet treats that is complementary with tickets. Tickets are $15 general, $10 youth and seniors, $20 reserved seating and are at brownpapertickets.com. Go to sebastopolballet.com for more information.
