This week’s police blotter
Between Jan. 9 and 15 Sebastopol Police Department logged 163 items. They provided fingerprint services for 20 citizens, investigated 12 suspicious vehicles, and four suspicious persons. Police answered two false alarms, handed out 19 parking tickets and arrested 17 naughty people. Here’s how it broke down.
On Jan. 9 at 5:34 p.m. they arrested someone on an outstanding warrant on the Joe Rodota Trail. At 9:09 p.m. someone was arrested for violating probation on N. Main St. At 10:09 p.m. they checked the welfare of a man reported talking to himself on N. Main St.
On Jan. 10 at 1:09 a.m. a prowler was arrested on Taft St. At 2:11 a.m. they went to a residence on Brookhaven Ave. where a noisy person was disturbing neighbors and handed out a citation. At 9:03 a.m. residents on Live Oak Ave. called to complain about a rooster but the rooster shut up when police drove up so they couldn’t find him. At 10:36 a.m. someone reported losing a bag of notebooks at Hopmonk Tavern. At 12:51 p.m. officers checked on the welfare of woman reported shredding her clothes on Cleveland Ave. At 2:30 p.m. police arrested someone on an outstanding warrant outside Safeway Market. At 4:13 p.m. officers assisted the fire department with a water flow alarm on N. Main St. At 4:40 p.m. a man reported a camera stolen from his pocket at Aubergine. At 4:44 p.m. vandals struck on Beattie Lane. At 11:30 p.m. police rounded up a loose pit bull and took him to the canine jail at the Humane Society until his human bails him out.
On Jan. 11 at 12:01 a.m. police assisted the ambulance crew with a possible stroke victim on Lyding Lane. At 12:10 a.m. someone reported a dog crying in a car outside the Junction Tavern on Gravenstein Hwy. S. At 1:38 a.m. a drunk driver was arrested on Palm Ave. At 12:22 a.m. officers made a drug arrest on Sebastopol Rd. At 9:04 a.m. officers assisted in repossession of a vehicle outside Safeway Market. At 9:37 a.m. the vandals returned to do more damage on Beattie Lane. At 3:47 p.m. police investigated a possible violation of a court order when a parent said their son was not at Analy High School where he was supposed to be. At 5:16 p.m. someone reported her dog ran off from Safari Books Online on Gravenstein Hwy. N. Her name is Cookie and will respond to someone saying “Up,up.” At 10:19 p.m. a drunk driver was hauled off to the poky from Sebastopol Rd. and at 11:08 the drunk driver got some company when another inebriated driver was arrested on Gravenstein Hwy. S.
On Jan. 12 at 2:05 a.m. yet one more drunk driver was arrested on Highway 12, and at 2:08 a.m. the drunk tank began to get overcrowded when yet one more drunk driver was arrested on Bodega Ave. At 7:31 a.m. a burglary report was taken at Robinson Rd. when bikes and a box of records was stolen. At 10:15 a.m. officers arrested a woman for battery. A man’s ex-wife hit his girlfriend with a book injuring her badly enough to need an ambulance at Calder Ave. At 11:38 a.m. someone reported an injured hawk at Brook Haven School but it could not be located. AT 12:17 p.m. a man was reported rummaging through garbage bins behind Pacific Market and urinating in public – turned out the fellow was violating probation, so off to jail. At 2:48 p.m. police assisted at an accident involving a motorcycle at the downtown plaza and resulting in the cyclist suffering minor injuries. At 3:57 p.m. someone playing loud music disturbing neighbors at Burbank Heights Apartments was warned to keep it down. At 6 p.m. police got two calls reported three vehicles had been outside Safeway Market and eight males and one female jumped out, assaulted a man then jumped back in and drove off. Police could not locate the culprits. At 7:35 p.m. someone was arrested for driving without a license. At 8:14 p.m. someone was drunk in public at the Super Suds laundry, off to jail to be drunk in private. At 8:32 p.m. police picked up a loose dog at Fircrest and gave it back to its owner since she had proper papers and a license. At 9:32 p.m. CVS employees reported a shoplifter. At 11:19 p.m. officers quieted down a loud party on Valentine Ave. At 11:47 p.m. a driver without a license was arrested on Bodega Ave.
On Jan. 13 at 8:47 a.m. residents on Healdsburg Ave. asked police to help them capture a stray rooster who crowed all night and all day. The loud bird was captured and taken to a new home on Bloomfield Rd. where it can wake a new neighborhood. At 10:04 a.m. a dog owner was ticketed for letting his three dogs loose on Laguna Park Way. At 12:08 someone turned in a purse found on Belle View Ave. At 1:12 p.m. someone reported an expensive bicycle had been stolen. At 4:47 p.m. Rite Aid Pharmacy reported shoplifters stealing bottle of alcohol and running off down Wilton Ave. At 6:39 p.m. two callers reported an injured raccoon on N. Main St. but officers could not find it. At 9:31 p.m. police made someone on Gravenstein Hwy. N playing loud music turn it down.
On Jan. 14 at 8:24 a.m. police assisted at accident scene on Ragle Rd. involving minor injuries. At 1:06 p.m. they assisted another medical crew with a woman on Bodega Ave. whp was very sick and unable to walk. At 3:18 p.m. police took a report of misdemeanor hit and run. At 10:49 p.m. a person was arrested for an outstanding warrant outside Safeway Market.
On Jan 15 at 2:23 a.m. a drunk driver was arrested on S. Main St. At 9:25 a.m. there was a major burglary on Bodega Ave. in which $40,000 worth of furniture, tools and collectibles were stolen.
