Valentine’s Day lovey stuff

Sebastopol World Friends  is holding a Sweetheart Dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day and raise money for sister city scholarships. On Saturday, Feb. 16 you can eat all the pasta, Caesar salad and garlic bread you can for $15 at the Sebastopol Community Church at 1000 Gravenstein Hwy. N. There will music, and a raffle and a silent auction. Local wines will be on sale. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and close at 8 p.m. Kids meals ages 6-12 are just $8, and kids 5 and under eat free. SWF facilitates youth travel and service projects with Sebastopol’s sister cities in the Ukraine and Japan.

Give a unique Valentine Evening experience by stopping by for tea and an insightful tarot reading at 7:30 p.m. with Kooch or Victor Daniels, co-authors of Tarot D’ Amour. To help you find answers to your questions about love, they will be offering short readings that focus on questions of the heart. It’s free at Many Rivers Books and Tea at 130 S. Main St. in Sebastopol.

There will be an Valentine evening of devotional dance and song for universal peace by Tui and Sahar at the Youth Annex of the Sebastopol Community Cultural Center at 425 Morris St.  Thursday (2/14) at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $10 -$20 sliding scale. Call 824-1796.

Nick’s Cove in Marshall has a special menu available February 14. Aubergine is holding a Valentine’s Day Celebration of rock’n’roll and love from 6– 10 p.m.Cabaret de Caliente offers an evening of tributes to love. A cabaret, a diva, champagne and chocolate – those are the ingredients for a romantic Valentine evening at Occidental Center for the Arts. On Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.  vocalist  Bonnie Brooks with John Simon on piano, Cliff Hugo on bass, Michael Brandeburg on drums and Mel Martin on sax, the group will provide jazz, ballads and bebop love songs. It’s called “Let There Be Love” and the $25 ticket includes a free glass of bubbly and a chocolate. Tickets are $45 for couples. Reservations are advised. Call 874-9392. Sunday(2/17) from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. There is a round Robin open mic love poem reading at Coffee Catz, 6761 Sebastopol Ave. in Sebastopol. Hosted by Sher and John Christian it costs a $5 donation. Bring love poems of your own or by someone else to share, or the story of how you met your lover.
